A Workshop Built on Patience and Precision

Saujana Jam began as a place where watches could be properly attended to — not processed, but cared for.

About Us

How Saujana Jam Came to Be

Saujana Jam was established in 2009 in Damansara Utama by Razif Hamidon, a watchmaker who had spent the better part of a decade working in horological repair across Kuala Lumpur. The name — Saujana, meaning "as far as the eye can see" — was chosen deliberately. It describes the long view this workshop takes toward each piece that comes through the door.

The early years were quiet. The workshop took on steady repair work, built trust with local collectors, and resisted expanding beyond what the team could carry out at a high standard. That restraint shaped the culture that remains today: careful over fast, thorough over expedient.

Today, Saujana Jam handles standard mechanical servicing, bracelet refinishing, and deep conservation work for clients across the Klang Valley and beyond. The workshop accepts pieces by walk-in or advance appointment, and works across brands and complications — being upfront when a calibre falls outside what we handle well.

Our Guiding Principles

  • Transparency before work begins

We document condition at intake and discuss findings before any work is authorised.

  • Conservation over refinishing, where appropriate

Patina and original surfaces are respected rather than erased. We'll discuss this with you if relevant.

  • No surprises on collection

If scope or cost changes during the work, we contact the owner before proceeding.

  • Honest assessment of what we can and cannot do

We'd rather refer a piece elsewhere than carry out work below the right standard.

The Team

The People Behind the Work

Our small team brings together technical depth and a shared approach to careful, unhurried horological work.

RH

Razif Hamidon

Founder & Head Watchmaker

Over fifteen years in mechanical watch repair, with particular depth in Swiss and German calibres. Handles complex movement work and deep conservation assessments.

SW

Suraya Wan

Watchmaker & Case Specialist

Trained in case and bracelet finishing, with experience across steel, gold, and bi-metal configurations. Manages bracelet refinishing and pressure testing.

AK

Amir Khalid

Workshop Coordinator

Manages intake documentation, client communication, and workshop scheduling. First point of contact for walk-in visits and enquiries.

Workshop Standards

How We Work

Our standards are not about certification plaques. They're about the habits we maintain at each step of the work.

Ultrasonic Cleaning Protocol

All components pass through a staged ultrasonic cleaning process using horological-grade solvents. Cleaning cycles are timed and monitored, not left running.

Regulation on Timing Equipment

Rate regulation is performed on professional timing instruments across multiple positions. We observe over several days before considering a movement ready for return.

Pressure Testing After Gasket Renewal

Cases are pressure tested following gasket replacement. We test to the manufacturer's stated depth rating and report results to the owner.

Photographic Intake Record

Each watch is photographed at intake — case, dial, movement if opened — so the condition is documented before any work begins. The record is retained.

Component Inspection Under Magnification

Every component is examined individually under loupe and binocular microscope. Wear beyond operating tolerance is identified and documented before decisions are made.

Client Data Handled with Discretion

Contact and watch details are retained only as long as needed for the service. We do not share client information with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Our Approach

What Considered Watch Repair Looks Like

Horological repair, at its best, is a discipline of patience. A movement disassembled without adequate documentation cannot be returned to its previous state with confidence. A bracelet refinished without attention to the original surface geometry becomes something different from what the maker intended. These are not abstract concerns — they translate directly to the long-term condition and value of the piece.

At Saujana Jam, we carry this view into each engagement. Before anything is opened, we assess and document. Before any component is renewed, we consult the owner where the decision is consequential. Before a watch leaves the workshop, it has been observed over time — not simply tested for a few minutes on a timing machine.

This approach takes longer than a fast-turnaround service. We are transparent about that. What it produces, however, is work that holds — a movement that performs reliably, a bracelet that wears correctly, a case that retains the character of the original surface. For watches that matter to their owners, this is worth the time.

The workshop is located in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya, easily reached from across the Klang Valley. Walk-in visits are welcome during workshop hours. If you'd prefer to make contact before coming in, we're reachable by phone and email.
